BLUEBELLS AND DORMICE

BLUEBELLS AND DORMICE

I had the pleasure to paint this piece with the company of a few dormice and filmmaker Esmie Widlake, who produced this beautiful film about my practice. As with all my pieces it was painted ‘en plein-air’ / on location at Ladysmith Woodland, South Dartmoor over the course of two beautiful days (albeit being attacked a little by midges – some of the usual challenges of working outdoors :). This painting received critical acclaim during two exhibitions in 2018, particularly the contemplative nature of the piece; being especially present in the space, observing every detail as they change throughout the day.

Following this feedback I have created a series of professional quality, limited edition giclee prints of this piece available by clicking on this link.
