This piece was painted with high adrenaline at the end of a 3 day plein-air painting trip on a wintery beach in North Devon. Having spent three highly successful days creating a body of work we woke on the last day (with the plan to have breakfast and head home) to discover a dramatic haze of morning sea mist and a wild foamy sea contrasting with the jagged black cliff. I raced down to the beach and captured this piece in a frenzy to translate some of the amazing, dramatic energy  before the sun rose and the scene calmed down.
